DescriptionHallamshire Battalion in woods west of Ryckevorsel, Belgium, working closely with Polish Armoured Division. Enemy action at Boschenheide; Battalion moved to positions at Werlde; given orders to capture Poppel. Battalion moved towards Dutch border and saw fierce action at Port De Bedaf. C Company sent from Aerle to relieve the Divisional Recce Squadron at [Nieuwesrn]. Battalion moved to positions at Nieuwkerk with H.Q. at Aerle. Patrolling activity in areas of Strikern, Staanisuvel and Esifant. Battalion then concentrated at Overercek; operating in conjunction with Clarkforce; orders received for a 'recce in force' in the area of Strirtheuvel. Battalion in billets at Roosendaal, Holland, with enemy in position to west of Roosendaal.
