Ernest Edward Penfold, born in 1914 was a musician who trained to play the flute at Kneller Hall and Blackheath Conservatoire of Music. He enlisted with the York and Lancaster Regiment in 1928 (Service No 4743558). He transferred to the South Lancashire Regiment from 1938, and then served as a clerk with the Royal Army Service Corps from 1946. He later served with the Bombay City Police and the Australian Military Force (Service No. 4/400032). |
