Bequests include £6 a year to a schoolmaster at Whiston to teach 12 poor children & 52s per year for bread 'to induce the poor people to come to the Church', the children to each have ' a New Bible and Whole Duty of Man bought them when they can read and write & Say the Church catechism and the other questions that Mr Mansell taught children ..at Ecclesfield'*; £100 to complete collection of 'Books of Practical Divinity' for Rotherham parish church+
