Notes | Ferham House was designed by John Platt and built c1775-80 for the second Jonathan Walker (1757-1807). His son Jonathan Walker the third (1781-1842) lived at Ferham for a while before moving to Easingwold in East Yorkshire. The house was then occupied by William Fretwell Hoyle (1801-1886) who later inherited Hooton Levitt Hall. The Habershons were the last owners before the house was sold to Rotherham Corporation in 1919. The Council restored Ferham in the 1970's and it is still in use as offices(ii). In 1920 Ferham House was used as a maternity home it closed in 1938 it was restored in the 1970's and in more recent years has been a privately run residential home for the elderly(iii) |
