DescriptionStates that in a meeting held 11 Jul 1916, the Council resolved to send a copy of the congratulatory message received from Major General Wanless O'Gowan, commanding the 31st Division, to every member of the 13th and 14th Battalions or the relatives of those who had died. Includes a copy of that message which describes how the 12th, 13th and 14th Battalions distinguished themselves on the first day of the battle of the Somme, and a message from the Town Clerk's office expressing the Mayor's pride and appreciation. With printed signatures.
