NotesThe only known deeds connected with Kimberworth Manor House until its sale to Mr Fellows in 1930 is a settlement (lease & releasement) among the "miscellaneous documents" MD 3185 (no. 3 & 4), Sheffield City Libraries. Thomas Earl of Effingham and Catherine Countess of Effingham, his wife, to Thomas Strangeways of Grayes Inn (co. Middlesex) gent. The manors of Rotherham and Kimberworth with all appurtenances, rights, dues etc; the Rectory of the parish church of Rotherham, and its buildings and advowson; and all the messuages, cottages, farms, lands, woods, mines etc in the parishes of Rotherham, Ecclesfield and Whiston; in trust to uses; settling the whole estate for many generations. [much of the document is illegible] 24 & 25 March 1767.
