| Description | The Wordsworths had been associated with Water Hall in Penistone since at least the 16th century and purchased it from the Foljambes, lords of the manor of Penistone in 1647 [1/1/2/15]. They purchased half of the manor of Penistone in 1750 from the Copley family. Later branches of the family established themselves in London and Ann who married Harry Verelst in 1771 belonged to one of these. |
