Description | Series 1 - Office records consisting of bill, day, account and letter books mostly for Thomas Badger and Badger and Jubb, solicitors. This series also has the personal papers of Frederick Parker Rhodes and John Henry Cockburn.
Series 2 - Local Acts of Parliament and Enclosure awards: The next series is various local acts such as gas, railway and enclosure acts together with enclosure awards. These acts link to many of the other records within the Parker Rhodes Collection.
Series 3 - Title Deeds: This covers all title deeds by individuals for land and property in South, West, East and North Yorkshire, the surrounding counties of Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and many other counties across England and Wales.
Series 4 - Personal deeds and probate: In this series are deeds for bankruptcy, personal cases such as a breach of promise of marriage, family trust settlements, marriage settlements and wills and probate.
Series 5- Businesses and Local Government: This series includes partnerships for small businesses and records of large businesses including some well-known Rotherham Companies such as Harrison and Camm, Owen and Dyson and Robert Jenkins and Co. This series end with various records relating to local government
Series 6 - Coal Mining and Railways: This includes records for railway and wagons companies, miners' welfare and associations such as the South Yorkshire Mines Drainage Scheme and the Yorkshire Coal-Owners Mutual Indemnity Company. This is followed by an alphabetical list of colliery companies covering the majority of coal mining companies in South and West Yorkshire as well as some in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, the Midlands and Wales. The records of the coal mining companies are mainly coal leases and court cases.
Series 7 - Family and Estates: Deeds and family papers for some of the larger estates in Rotherham and the surrounding areas such as the Eastwood Estate, Earl of Effingham, Verelst, Foljambe and White of Wallingwells.
Series 8 - Ravenfield Hall Estate: A large collection of papers for the Ravenfield Hall Estate and the Bosviles of Ravenfield |
