Wickersley Agricultural Show Society was originally formed on 23 October 1945 with the aim of raising money for charities, notably the Red Cross. The Society held a one-day Annual Show, originally over Whitsuntide and later the August Bank Holiday, which for more than 50 years regularly attracted crowds of 5000 people. The event was ended in 1994 when it became increasingly difficult to find committee members to organise it. The members donated the Show Society's remaining funds to Wickersley Parish Council to buy a commemorative clock to be placed in front of the Three Horse Shoes, Wickersley, overlooking the Show's original location, to honour the past members who had contributed to the Show over the years.
