Records any casualties, appointments and promotions, important visitors, camps and troop movements, with comments on relevant matters such as climate, landscape, changes in uniform and receipt of new weapons. Extracts from the London Gazette, reports, orders and letters are copied out. Items attached within: extract from Carter's Medal Rolls volume III about Victoria Crosses awarded during the Indian Mutiny; and 'Heroes of the Matabele War' article on unveiling of War Memorial at York Minster. At the front of the book is a list of all places stationed with associated dates. At the rear is a history of the 2nd Battalion of the 84th Regiment of Foot 8 Apr 1808-6 Dec 1818 and a roster of Companies for detachment 1891-1935 (includes dates of detachment, dates of rejoining H.Q. and place sent).
