NotesThe ship was wrecked in bad weather off Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean en route between South Africa and Mauritius, bound for Bombay. There were around 1200 people on board, including half of the 2nd Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment and 5 Companies of the 1st Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps.
