Description | Microfilm copies of documents relating to the Hallamshire Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment during the Second World War. Comprising a file (in reverse date order) of forms, letters, telegrams and orders received in the Battalion Orderly Room 24 Aug- 10 Oct 1939, relating to the preparation of the unit for war, labelled 'Crisis 1939 M + 1 to M + 50', with a 'War Diary' for June 1944- December 1945 (lacking March 1945), as well as a series of envelopes for each month containing patrol programmes, maps and other items relating to the Battalion's service in North West Europe from France to Germany and post surrender duties as part of British Army of the Rhine. This material was copied on to microfilm by the National Army Museum in 1983. |
