Description | Hallamshire Battalion at Hopton Camp. Advance party left for marshalling areas near Newick and Chainey (north of Lewes) en route to France; embarked ship at Newhaven and landed at Ver-sur-Mer, Normandy, then moved to Ruqueville. After transport delays, Battalion took over positions of Green Howards; cleared village of Audrieu; Lt. Tett killed in attack. Bodies of murdered Canadian soldiers from Regina Rifles are discovered.
