Notes(ii) The Greasbrough arm of the Don navigation was constructed on the initiative of the Marquis of Rockingham in 1779-80. It ran from the Don navigation to Cinder Bridge, Greasbrough. from the canal short tramways ran to the various mines leased from the Marquis by the Fenton family. By 1840 the tramroads on the upper part of the canal had fallen out of use and this stretch of canal fell into disuse.
