| Notes | Maps titles are based on the place name at the head of the map, which often differs from the panel title on the front of the map, and have been Anglicised where necessary (Dunkirk for Dunkerque, Tobruk for Tobrouch etc.). Titles are supplemented with the names of other major places where the series name could be misleading (e.g. for the 'France series' maps of Belgium). Places significant to York and Lancaster action, or where trenches are concentrated, are also indicated.
Standard compass points abbreviations have been used, and the following abbreviations used for the various mapping agencies:

G.S.G.S. Geographical Section, General Staff, (also known as M.I.4 and operated under the Director of Military Operations and Intelligence)
A.H.Q. Allied Headquarters
R.E. Royal Engineers
B.E.F. British Expeditionary Force

A.M.S. United States Army Map Service
R.C.E. Royal Canadian Engineers
Dimensions stated are neatline measurements (to the edge of the gridded area of maps); the overall sheet size is also indicated if this is significantly larger. All items are outsize and must be ordered in advance, unless the description states that the item is boxed. |
