Description | Records relating to the conveying of civic honours on the York and Lancaster Regiment by Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley (the three main recruiting area), Pontefract (the Barracks town), Epping (where the Regiment was last stationed before disbandment), and on the Yorkshire Volunteers by the city of York. These honours allowed the Regiment the freedom to enter the town or city and march through with bayonets fixed, colours flying and bands playing on ceremonial occasions. Predominantly documents pertaining to the planning, arrangement, and discussion of the Rotherham ceremony.
