Dec 1915 moved back to Lancashire Farm; moved from Elverdinghe, Belgium to Steenvoorde, France; entrained for Calais to get to a new camp at Beaumaris.
Jan 1916 1/4th Hallamshire Battalion visited by General Plumer whilst in training; moved from Calais to Zutkerque, France; moved to Merkeghem, then Herzeele; visited by General Plumer who presented bravery awards. Feb 1916 moved to Esquelbecq then through Amiens and Bouzincourt to Martinsart; then in trenches at Albert-Somme, France. Mar 1916 moved to Warloy to become part of 4th Army; moved to Contay, France.
