April 1940 Embarked on M.S. Chrobry from Glasgow for voyage to Norway. Includes list of Officers deployed and description of journey including ships and units. Disembarked at Namsos to take up defensive positions around town; description of positions and movements of Companies in Stenkjaer, Follafoss, Malne, Bangsund, Beitstad, Namdal Seidet. Battalion took up defensive position Hjellebotn-Snaasavand; withdrawal of 4th K.O.Y.L.I. and 4th Lincolnshire Regiment through Hallamshire Battalion. Battalion ordered to withdraw along the Namsos road covering the approach to Beitstad and Kvam; withdrawal to Bangsund.
May 1940 Battalion withdrew to Namsos, embarked on H.M.S. Afridi; Afridi hit in air raid, 13 killed, survivors transferred to H.M.S. Griffin and H.M.S. Imperial. Disembarked at Glasgow; moved to Stobs Camp near Hawick, Scotland; includes Report on Battalion rear guard at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. |
