| Description | Sep 1917 1/4th Hallamshire Battalion at Bray Dunes, on border of France and Belgium, inspection by Gen. Plumer; moved to Wolveringhe; moved to Moringham. Oct 1917 movements through France to Belgium via Salperwick, Nieppe, Watou and Vlameringhe; reconnoitred Passchendaele before moving to assembly positions to the southwest prior to the attack (diary includes casualty list). Battalion relieved by a New Zealand Battalion; moved to Winnezeele, France, to rest and recuperate.
